City of Cedar Hills: Pressurized Irrigation Telemetry & State-Mandated Tiered Usage Billing
Deployed AquaTrax portal and automated meter telemetry across Cedar Hills residents to enable real-time usage tracking, leak notifications, and Utah state-mandated tiered usage billing for pressurized irrigation (P.I.).
The Challenge
Ongoing drought conditions across Utah required the City of Cedar Hills to transition from unmetered irrigation to state-mandated pressurized irrigation (P.I.) metering and tiered rate billing for usage exceeding 150% of resident allotments.
The Solution
The City launched the MyAquaTrax customer portal connected directly to Public Works AMI telemetry, giving residents hourly visualization of culinary and P.I. consumption, automated leak and excessive use notifications, and seamless integration with Xpress Bill Pay.
Results & Long-Term Impact
Enabled full compliance with State of Utah water conservation mandates effective July 1, 2025. Over 90% resident portal registration within months, dramatically reducing non-revenue irrigation waste and empowering households to manage seasonal allotments before high-usage bills accrue.
"AquaTrax provides our residents with full transparency into their culinary and pressurized irrigation usage. It's an essential tool for drought management, leak detection, and equitable tiered billing."
